Expanded Function Auxiliaries Legislation Passes

LB 18 Final Reading VoteOn Thursday, March 23, 2017, the NDA/NDAA legislative bill LB 18, passed Final Reading 46-0, completing a multi-year effort to update the Nebraska Dental Practice Act. LB 18 creates a Licensed Dental Assistant position within the dental team, along with expanded functions for Licensed Dental Assistants and Licensed Dental Hygienists.


2017 Governor Signing LB 18While allowing dental offices to continue to operate as they do today, LB 18 allows office who chose to employ expanded function dental assistants and hygienists.  LB 18 also provides for the Board of Dentistry to define education requirements for dental assistants.
