Nebraska Dental Foundation
Establishing a named fund, i.e., the Dr. Smith Fund, to benefit the Nebraska Dental Foundation is easy. A fund agreement can be created establishing the “use” of the gift that you or a designated individual can change in the future, to ensure your goals for the fund are met.
Gifts to the Nebraska Dental Foundation may be unrestricted or restricted. An unrestricted gift is distributed by the Nebraska Dental Foundation Board, which receives recommendations from the Nebraska Dental Association Board and the 2004 Strategic Plan.
Restricted gifts allow you to designate a specific use for the funds. For example, you may prefer to fund a scholarship or benefit a specific dental program such as the newly created Nebraska Mission of Mercy.
The Nebraska Dental Foundation can establish two types of funds to benefit the State of Nebraska dental needs: 1) expendable; and 2) endowed. A gift to an expendable fund can be used immediately by the Foundation for the purposes you designate. When you establish an endowed fund to support the Foundation, your gift is invested and the invested income is available for use by the Foundation. The net income earned annually from the investment is used for the purpose of the fund. The advantage of endowed funds is that they grow over time, providing long-term support for the Foundation.
Gifts should be made payable to the Nebraska Dental Foundation or should designate "the Nebraska Dental Foundation, a Nebraska nonprofit corporation."
