NMOM was modeled after similar programs in Virginia, Texas and Kansas. NMOM creates a dental clinic and then opens our doors to the community. NMOM 2007 was the NDA's third event. NMOM 2005 took place in North Platte and NMOM 2006 took place in Grand Island.
NMOM targets services to low-income individuals and families through local churches, community programs and service organizations. Patients are screened and treated based on their most urgent dental needs – extractions, fillings, oral surgery and dental hygiene. Those services are then provided by one of our volunteers – hundreds of dentists, hygienists and assistants who have donated their talents to treat patients. The dental services are donated and provided by caring dental professionals. The excellent care is given to needy patients at no fee.
Patients began arriving at 6 pm on Thursday evening. After arriving and filling out patient intake forms in the tent (left), the patient's health history was recorded (middle) and then directed to the Triage (right) area to determine the patient's greatest dental need.

Patients needing anesthetic went to the numbing area (left) and proceeded to either the Restorative, Pedo (middle) or Oral Surgery (right).

Remaining patients went to the hygiene area (left). The lab area (middle) provided on-site partials and dentists had access to portable xray (right)

Volunteers provided food throughout the day and dental personnel were treated to a chair massage! The NMOM Committee (right) poses for a group photo.

Dental students from UNMC (left) and Creighton (middle) were in full force on Saturday! Unsung heros in sterilization (right)!

Local Chair Dr. Bob Smith.
